FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Silver Spring, MD – The Association for Intelligent Information Management (AIIM) today announced a collaborative project with RecordPoint to develop practical AI readiness education for information management professionals. The initiative includes a five-course online learning series and three in-person AI+IM Regional Exchange events scheduled for Dallas, Seattle, and Ottawa in Fall 2026.
The online course series, Operational AI Governance for Information Leaders, is an on-demand learning program developed for information professionals who are increasingly being asked to take on AI governance responsibilities within their organizations. The series focuses on practical approaches to establishing AI governance accountabilities, building and maintaining an AI inventory, assessing risk, governing AI-generated content, and creating sustainable governance programs.
All five courses will be available through AIIM+ Pro, AIIM’s premium membership for information management professionals. Information professionals interested in accessing the full course series can learn more about AIIM+ Pro membership at aiim.org.
AIIM will also host three AI+IM Regional Exchange events to bring these topics into an applied, in-person format. The complimentary events will give local information management communities an opportunity to explore AI governance through expert insights, peer discussion, and practical examples.
“Information professionals are being handed AI governance responsibilities faster than the field has been able to develop the frameworks and training to support them,” said Tori Miller Liu, CIP, President and CEO of AIIM. “This educational series is about closing that gap with content that is practical, vendor-neutral, and grounded in the actual work information professionals do.”
“Information governance professionals aren’t bystanders in AI governance. They’re exactly who organizations need leading this work right now,” said Anthony Woodward, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RecordPoint. “Data governance is the foundation for AI, and this audience already has the skills to build it. Catalogued data, clear data provenance, retention, and defensible disposal are what get data AI-ready, and those same practices translate directly into AI system governance. We built this course with AIIM so these professionals have the language and the practical steps to take the seat at the table that was always theirs.”
About the Course Series
Operational AI Governance for Information Leaders consists of five courses, each approximately 45 to 60 minutes and designed for practical application rather than theory. Topics span the full AI governance lifecycle, including defining roles and responsibilities within a cross-functional governance structure, building an AI system inventory that includes prompts and agents as managed assets, triaging AI risk using frameworks aligned to NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001, governing AI-generated content and maintaining audit trails, and sustaining governance programs through monitoring, incident response, and a 90-day maturity uplift planning process.
The course series will be available for free to attendees of the AI+IM Regional Exchange events in Fall 2026 and exclusively through AIIM+ Pro. AIIM+ Pro also provides unlimited access to 60+ on-demand courses, specialty certificate programs, webinars, templates, toolkits, and a private professional community of information management practitioners.
AI+IM Regional Exchange Events
The 2026 AI+IM Regional Exchange events will bring information management practitioners together in Dallas, Seattle, and Ottawa for applied, discussion-based programming focused on AI readiness and governance. Attendees will receive 30 days of complimentary access to the AI readiness learning pathway in AIIM+ Pro following their event.
More details on event dates, locations, and registration will be available at aiim.org.
