AIIM Conference 2024 Set to Prepare Information Management Practitioners for the Future

Silver Spring, Maryland – The Association for Intelligent Information Management opened online registration and announced the theme for the AIIM Conference 2024. The theme for the event being held April 3-5, 2024 is "Guardians of the Future."

The event theme highlights the criticality of information management in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) where organizations are rushing to use AI to drive business outcomes and simultaneously experience exponential growth in data.

"Trusted, high-quality information is essential to leveraging artificial intelligence and in this new AI era, information managers are the Guardians of the Future," said AIIM President & CEO Tori Miller Liu. "Information management practitioners possess the experience needed to nurture, secure, and provide accurate information that enables organizations to ethically and responsibly adopt AI solutions."

The idea for the theme came from Kay Young, Information and Records Management Lead for Knowledge, Information Management and Security at the UK Food Standards Agency. During a keynote panel discussion at the 2023 AIIM Europe Forum in London, Young recognized that there are many compelling use cases for AI at organizations, but said AI implementation must be done safely and responsibly. For that, organizations need information management practitioners.

“We are the guardians of the future,” said Young during the panel discussion. “We safeguard truth and serve as the conscience of the organization.”

At the AIIM Conference 2024, Guardians of the Future will forge connections with industry peers and subject matter experts, explore innovative solutions, and learn about the latest technology, practices, and trends in information management.

The educational programming at the AIIM Conference 2024 is designed to prepare information managers and information management practitioners for the future. The event's educational programming will be inclusive and reflect the diversity of the information management industry today.

"With the 2024 conference, we are intentionally providing programming that reflects the reality that today your title doesn't have to be information manager in order to practice information management," said Liu. "Information management practitioners can work in IT, records management, legal, human resources, and beyond."

The event will feature four learning pathways:

  • Emerging Technology & Trends featuring sessions on the latest technology and research in information management.
  • Future Skills where participants can learn the skills needed to be a "Guardian of the Future" and information management leader of the future, including topics like change management, storytelling, and crafting compelling business cases.
  • Next Practices featuring sessions that go beyond “best practices” by featuring real-world case studies that demonstrate what’s next in information management.
  • Strategy where executives and information management leaders can learn with and network with peers in sessions dedicated to the strategy behind successful information management programs.

AIIM is currently accepting session proposals until September 17, 11:59 p.m. ET. Apply to speak at the event by visiting aiimconference.com
