File Sync and Share: A Profile of AirWatch

Written by John Mancini | Jan 5, 2015 3:52:00 PM

Given all the changes in file sync and share, last month I did a post offering companies in the file sync and share space an opportunity to introduce themselves to the readers of the AIIM Blog. Here's the first of the posts from Airwatch. Commentary below provided by Lauren Sanborn from the Analyst Relations team.

JM — Give me a quick elevator speech on AirWatch.

LS -- Employees need access to corporate content on-the-go to stay productive. Many employees are taking advantage of free file synchronization and sharing services to access sensitive documents, putting an organization’s corporate data at risk, and creating shadow IT. By providing employees the latest corporate content on their mobile devices, organizations can substantially reduce printing, paper, and shipping costs. AirWatch by VMware enables secure mobile access to content anytime, anywhere. AirWatch® Secure Content Locker® protects sensitive content in a corporate container and provides users with a central application to securely access, store, update, and distribute the latest documents from their mobile devices.

JM — What makes you different from the rest of the companies in the sync and share space?

LS -- AirWatch Secure Content Locker is the only solution in the market developed on a true enterprise mobility management platform. Our comprehensive platform was built from the ground up on a unified code base to scale and grow with the mobility requirements of an organization, creating the most viable solution over the long-term and providing unparalleled benefits to our customers.

JM — Who typically is THE most significant player in making the “buy” decision for your product — 1) IT people? 2) legal people? 3) line of business people? 4) C-suite? 5) records managers? 6) someone else?

LS -- We have three primary buyers: IT, line of business, and C-suite.

JM — As you talk to customers and prospective customers, what are the 2 or 3 most pressing information management problems on their radar screen?

LS -- 1 – Employee use of consumer file sync and share solutions result in substantial security risks for the enterprise 2 – Leaders risk low adoption unless they bridge the gap between IT requirements and employee expectations.

JM — Looking ahead to 2015, give me ONE prediction or trend about the sync and share space.

LS -- Unified productivity tools will become essential elements to business effectiveness.

JM — Closing thoughts — Give me 3 quick adjectives to describe AirWatch.

LS -- innovative, flexible, scalable
