It’s the best of times for those in the content biz -- content has never been more important in creating and delivering value to customers. And it is also the worst of times – ECM is increasingly viewed as a dated and artificially narrow term, creating an untethered feel to the content “industry” right now.
It strikes me that all of this change is driven by the following underlying trends:
- We’ve awakened from the dream of a single repository.
- It’s now all about the end user.
- Compliance risks and challenges are increasing and growing more complex.
- There is a growing recognition that the cloud represents the future of content management.
- The action in content management has shifted from storing content to extracting value and insight from content.
- Content creation has been balkanized and democratized.
- Apps have changed how we view, deploy, and consume enterprise solutions.
