I did a post a while back on 8 Reasons Why World Paper Free Day Matters. That data was drawn from our 2015 survey. Well, here's eight more from this year's research report, 2016 Paper Free: Are We There Yet? Since the 1980s, we have heard about paper-free businesses and the drive to move toward a more digital workplace. At the time, technology and people were not ready for this transformation. Today, the approach to digitally transform businesses has shifted from a technology-first perspective to a more business-centric approach, with paper-free processes becoming a focal point and opportunity for many organizations.

I hear people from around the globe, complain about SharePoint that it doesn’t do this, or we thought it did that. Yet the AIIM Industry Watch Report titled “The Impact of SharePoint 2016” finds when it comes to SharePoint meeting organizational expectations, nearly half of our respondents are happy with SharePoint and the on-going product roadmap, with half also in agreement that SharePoint is providing good value for the cost.

Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS)
Let's take a look at the policy environment (or lack thereof) that surrounds how most organizations use sync and share technologies. File sync and share are on the rise, yet there is still a cultural challenge and user reluctance slowing organizations from moving in this direction. While there are proven technologies available, 29% of our respondents cite concerns over security and unauthorized access to their information as a big challenge in implementing a file sync and share solution. For 19%, the challenge they face is a lack of understanding the full benefits file sync and share can bring to their organization, and for 20%, it is the cultural challenge related to change management, combining a lack of management support (12%), and user reluctance (8%).
